Jim Cumbee established Tennessee Valley Group to help business owners fulfill their dreams for life after business ownership.
It’s a mission that his 30+ year career history had prepared him well for—in addition to being an attorney, transition mediator and business broker, Jim has been a buyer, seller, and entrepreneur. His broad range of experience gives him unique insight into how business buyers and sellers can achieve their goals.
Jim is familiar with the expensive mistakes that can hinder the plans of entrepreneurs and investors. “Experience in the field of buying and selling businesses led me to realize how under-served business owners are through a very vulnerable and scary process,” he says.
The element of risk is intensified by the fact that Tennessee has no licensing or registration requirements for business brokers, so buyers and sellers have to be extra careful when deciding with whom to work.
As a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator and member of the Tennessee Association of Professional Mediators, Jim is committed smoothing the sales and acquisition process further by helping clients successfully resolve negotiation hurdles and contract term disputes.
